Joseph Horswell

A native of Southern California, Joseph Horswell’s professional career has spanned 4 decades, covering a wide variety of instrumental and vocal styles, including classical, Broadway, big-band jazz, bop, straight-ahead, blues, soul, fusion, pop, rock, country, Latin, Gospel and contemporary Christian music. 

 

Throughout the years, Horswell has worked with a diverse list of industry heavyweights.  To his credit are live performances, recording sessions, and album cameos with an enviable list of prominent artists, studio musicians, Grammy winners and nominees such as: Jazz Trumpeter Freddy Hubbard, Pianist Roger Kellaway, Country artist Michael Martin Murphy, Latin Percussionist Tito Puente, Latin Trumpeter Bobby Rodriguez, Pop singer Jim Messina, R & B singer Joe Cocker, R & B singer Kim Wilson ("The Fabulous Thunderbirds"), “Tower of Power”, “The Average White Band”, the late renowned

studio guitarist Tommy Tedesco, vocalist Jeanne Tatum, and the late, legendary guitar monster Larry Nass (Aerto Morea and Flora Purim). 

 

Horswell continues to perform throughout Southern California with various different groups under his direction, including, "The Pacific Standard Time Jazz Orchestra", "The Contemporary Jazz Trio", "The Fusion Jazz Quintet", (AKA "Pentasonic"), and "The Joseph Horswell Quartet". 

Joseph Horswell resides in Ojai California with his wife Joanna and youngest Daughter Lauren; and teaches the saxophone privately to a handful of talented local kids.
